LHE Skin Care Therapy FAQ

How safe is LHE treatment?

The Radiancy LHE is an FDA-approved device. When used by experienced and trained clinicians, treatment is safe and effective and results are reproducible. Photofacial treatment is not recommended for patients with darker skin tones due to increased risk.

What are the benefits of the LHE Photofacial procedure?

Each skin rejuvenation session you receive will yield some improvement in sun spots, redness and skin discoloration. A single session is not recommended since it is unlikely to achieve your cosmetic goals. We recommend a package of 3-6 treatments for better results.

How often are treatments performed?

Most Skin Rejuvenation sessions can be repeated at 1-3 week intervals. Several sessions are recommended for better results.

Skin Tightening treatments are typically performed twice weekly for 3-5 weeks.

Acne treatments are typically performed twice per week for 4 weeks (total of 8 treatments usually).

Hair removal is typically performed every 4-8 weeks for the first 3 treatments and then every 3-4 months for the remaining treatments.

Who will perform my treatment?

Dr. Harmony Layne will perform your treatments.

How can I prepare for my treatment?

It is best to avoid UV sun exposure (including tanning beds) for 3-4 weeks prior to your treatment. The laser absorbs melanin in the skin and tanned skin can take away from the effectiveness of the targeted treatment. Avoid sunless (spray) tanning for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Be sure to arrive with clean skin and no make up for facial treatments.

For hair removal treatments, allow the hair to grow slightly, ( 2 mm is enough) immediately prior to your treatment day.  It is advisable to shave between appointments, DO NOT wax or pluck the area to be treated.

Is the procedure painful?

The pulse of the LHE looks and feels similar to a bright flashbulb on your skin. You may feel some heat but it does not typically hurt. Therefore, numbing cream is typically not necessary, except in some cases of hair removal.

What is the aftercare like?

There may be some temporary redness that usually resolves within hours. For freckles and age spots, the spots generally become darker and textured for 3-7 days before sloughing off. Sun avoidance and SPF 30+ sunblock are very important to give you the best results and avoid complications.
