Shannon Reive-Schmidt, ND

Dr. Shannon Reive-Schmidt is a naturopathic doctor committed to individualized medicine. A native to the Pacific Northwest, she graduated with honors from Washington State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her naturopathic doctorate with honors in research from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, OR. While there, she was involved in research at The Helfgott Research Institute and completed additional training from Ochs Labs to become a certified LENS neurofeedback practitioner. She has completed advanced courses in homeopathy with the New England School of Homeopathy, and has gained extensive training from leading practitioners in the field of bioidentical hormone therapy and women's health.

Dr. Shannon comes from a family of medical practitioners and always knew she was interested in a medical career. However, from an early age, she wasn't satisfied with the "one size fits all" approach of conventional medicine. As an undergraduate student, while studying abroad with the Bioko Biodiversity Protection Program in Equatorial Guinea, her love of medicinal plants was born. From that point forward, she was determined to find a career that combined both her passion for scientific research and traditional plant medicine.

Dr. Shannon's goal with each patient is to look beyond just symptom management and address the root of why symptoms are present. She believes that treating the cause can bring about balance, provide symptom relieve, and prevent chronic disease. Dr. Shannon recognizes that health is so much more than the absence of symptoms.

Prior to practicing at Vigor, Dr. Shannon had a busy primary care practice in Portland's Hollywood district, with a focus in women's health, medical thermography, and neurofeedback therapy.

While not in the office, Dr. Shannon can be found trying out gluten free recipes in the kitchen, enjoying local wineries, catching up on the latest podcast, and spending time outdoors with her husband, two kids, and dog.
